We
have worked with an orphanage called "HIS HOME FOR CHILDREN" in Port au
Prince, Haiti operated by Hal and Chris Nungester for a number of
years. The earthquake on January 12 and subsequent aftershocks have
made their facility unsafe. We are happy to report that all staff and
children (over 100) are safe. Some have been brought to the U.S. in an
accelerated adoption process but over 50 remain. The
need for food, water, medical supplies, and shelter for these children,
as well as the rest of the population of Haiti, is great!
We
have collected a large amount of supplies and are working with AIRNOW
to get them delivered to the Nungesters. Some of the supplies have
already been flown to Haiti. More are going to be trucked to Maryland
and travel there by ship. Below are some pictures of us at the AIRNOW hanger sorting, boxing, and labeling various materials for shipment - Awesome fun!
We are investigating the possibility of sending a work party to help repair the orphanage facility.
If you are interested in the trip or if you would like to donate to the relief effort in cash or supplies please contact us.
